KASCADE Cosmic-Ray Data Centre (KCDC)

KCDC – Scientific Data for the public

The aim of the KASCADE Cosmic-Ray Data Centre (KCDC) is the installation and establishment of a public data centre for high-energy astroparticle physics based on the data of the KASCADE experiment. KASCADE was a very successful large detector array measuring high-energy cosmic rays via the detection of extensive air showers (EAS). KASCADE collected within its 20 years of lifetime more than 1.7 billion events of which some 433.000.000 survived all quality cuts and have been made available via KCDC for public usage. With KCDC we provide Open Access to experimental cosmic ray data for a general public. Via a web portal physicists as well as non-scientists have easy and convenient access to the high-quality cosmic ray data collected by the KASCADE / KASCADE-Grande experiments.

Open Access as described by the Berlin Declaration includes free and unlimited access to scientific data collected with financial aid from public institutions.
